It’s Skiboard Event Season

5 02 2010

Skiboarding events are officially kicking off. Jay Jam is being held this weekend at Jay Peak, VT, Shredfest 2 at Lake Tahoe runs from Feb 27 – March 6, the Midwest Meet at Mount Bohemia, MI is March 5 – 7, and finally the US Open at Ragged Mountain, NH March 13 – 14.

These events are covering an impressive amount of the country. Two events for the east coast, one for the midwest, and one huge event for the west coast. These events are definitely worth traveling for, and skiboarders are more than happy to meet up and arrange carpools. If you’re not making it out to an event this year, look forward to recaps, photos, and videos from all once they wrap up. Remember, there’s always next year.

As always, keep your eyes open for smaller meets in your area, and keep up with the latest details from the larger events on the SBOL Forum’s Meet up and Ride section.

Revel8 Receptor Bindings

28 12 2009

Once again Greco and Revel8 have stepped it up to fill a gap in the skiboard world. The price will be higher than the Zeros ($159.00) but lower than the Bombers ($209.00), both of which are sold out. The Receptors have the ability to be micro tuned to exactly fit your boot. The bails aren’t as wide as most of us are used to, so they’ll  have a tighter fit on the toes and heels of our boots. This will prevent less side to side slide, and be especially nice if you get any ice build-up under your boots.

“Hey guys,

Today is an exciting day for R8. Always wanted to make bindings but wanted it done right. The opportunity came and I jumped on it. These are truly awesome and were in development for 1yr. They aren’t available online yet but should be within a few days. They are in limited supply right now but more coming in early February.

Midwest Meet

19 05 2009

Visit the official Midwest Meet thread on the SBOL Forum here to discuss the event. Costs for riding / lodging, carpools, and everything else you’d need to know can be found here!

The first ever Midwest Meet will be held at Mount Bohemia, MI (in the Upper Peninsula).
Click here to visit Mount Bohemia’s website
.

“Mount Bohemia has the longest runs with the highest vertical and deepest powder in the Midwest. Bohemia is all-natural, and has no problem without snow guns. The average snowfall in the Keweenaw is 273 inches. The lake effect snow is dry similar to western resorts and accumulates as powder which is untouched because we do not groom. Bohemia’s two new sections; the Outer limits has 100+ acres of inbounds backcountry skiing with 17 new runs even longer and trickier than before.”

Jay Jam Getting Closer

1 02 2009

Mark was scoping out the scene yesterday and although there is no park set up (so there will be no rail jam), there is promise of deep pow and good people.  Set your bindings back and start getting ready.

If you can’t make it out and need some motivation to go shred your local mountain make sure you check out the Revel8 Team shredding Mt. Snow after the Dew Tour. The video can be found here and if you haven’t seen this yet, you’ve been slacking.

Video clips to hold you over

9 12 2008

Enurshia Jay Jam

24 11 2008

Enurshia Jay Jam | Feb 7-8, 2009 | Jay Peak, Vermont

“This will be the third Enurshia Jay Jam and it looks like it will be the biggest one yet.

All level of riders welcome! There are plenty of groomed trails and “beginner” woods available but keep in mind that a good portion of time will likely be spent in the woods. Please consider this before deciding to come. We want everyone to have a good time and if you know you will not be comfortable in the woods, you will likely not have a good time in the woods. It can be very dangerous and we do not encourage anyone to ride beyond their abilities. Safety first. Then teamwork.

If you intend to come, please respond to this post and we will contact you with some questions. We look forward to meeting everyone!”

If you plan to come make sure you check out THIS thread right away.
